Skybase: Book 1
The Founding

Prologue
The leaves whistled loudly as a shady figure raced along the dirt path, a monster and several speedy arrows hot on his trail. He dodged so gracefully it would put even the most talented gymnasts to shame. He bounded high into the air, evading every arrow and landed perfectly on two feet. He picked up the packet he was carrying and continued running at what seemed to be at least 25 miles per hour. A skylight shone from the sky, and it illuminated the clearing he just entered.
A beautiful garden like scene, it was lush with plants from your wildest dreams. He stumbled and tripped on something hard and metal, and he stumbled and fell. The packet fell down a hole, and from the fact he heard nothing, he assumed it fell deeper than he had first thought. He remembered the creature chasing him, and began to run, but an arrow whizzed before he could move, striking him straight through the chest. The large body approached him silently, examining the humanoid closely. The poor body on the ground was bleeding horribly, and was paralyzed, all except for the head.
“Where is it? “ The large creature asked menacingly.
“It’s gone… and even if I did know, I would die before giving you that information. “ The other figure replied harshly, though out of breath and dying.
“Then you will die. “ The larger beast growled, dropping him and drawing a sword. He pulled it up and thrust it, but right before that the person on the ground seemed to dissolve, body turning to sand, and a soul fluttered away desperately. The sword struck the bare ground, doing nothing but disturbing the sand. However, before the soul could get out of reach, the being grabbed it roughly and tossed it into a knapsack. You could see it flutter from time to time, but nothing escaped.
“Then you will be tortured till you tell us. We cannot kill you, but we can torture you for eternity. “The skylight showed again, and the figure walked into it. For the first time you could see his details.
It had six legs, each fuzzy with fur. It had two heads, which one seemed to be sad seeing the soul flutter hopelessly, while the other seemed only to enjoy it. It had three pairs of arms up by it’s abdomen, two with a bow and arrow, two with swords, and two holding the knapsack shut tight. The skylight, not only illuminating the insect like creature, but absorbed him and he appeared on the ship, which then flew away. The last thing you could hear before it was completely gone was the whistle of the wind, blowing away the dust around the hole blew away, letting light into it and revealing the packet, which was ripped open, it’s contents gone.
